Sunset and sunrise among the monasteries in the sky.

Best season

In brief

A two-day, one-night private journey from Athens to Meteora with a stop at Thermopylae, an overnight in Kalambaka, visits to two or three monasteries and sunset and sunrise viewpoints. From £1,150 per group of up to four.

Meteora is about 350 km from Athens, and a one-day round trip is exhausting. An overnight changes the experience: you arrive for the afternoon light, watch sunset from the viewpoints and visit the monasteries in the morning, before the main groups.

Highlights

  • Sunset and sunrise viewpoints
  • Two or three monasteries
  • Thermopylae stop
  • Kalambaka dinner

Insider notes

  • Monasteries close on different days (Varlaam, for example, closes on Fridays in summer), so we fix the order of visits after your dates are known.
