Mykonos Μύκονος
Mykonos is the Cyclades’ glamorous island, known for the windmills of Kato Mili, Little Venice and the labyrinthine whitewashed lanes of Chora. It is also the gateway to Delos, the UNESCO-listed birthplace of Apollo, 30 minutes away by boat.
Mykonos combines a medieval-looking harbour town with some of the Aegean’s best beach clubs and restaurants. The lanes of Chora were deliberately made winding to confuse pirates and to break the strong meltemi wind.
Our itineraries pair the glamour with substance: a morning on Delos, a quiet beach on the south coast and a long lunch with a local chef.

Best time to visit Mykonos
May–June, September. June and September balance warm sea, open venues and manageable crowds. July and August are peak, and strong winds can affect boats.
What to do
Delos
The sacred island where, in myth, Apollo and Artemis were born. It was a major commercial and religious centre and is a UNESCO site. No one lives on Delos today; visits are by boat from Mykonos.
Tip: Bring a hat and water; there is little shade.
Chora at sunrise
Walk the lanes before the shops open, past the whitewashed Paraportiani church, with your guide explaining the architecture.
South-coast beaches by private boat
Reach quieter coves reachable only by sea, with lunch on board.

Where to stay
- Mykonos Town (Chora): Walkable to restaurants and nightlife; boutique hotels.

- Mykonos Airport (JMK) has direct seasonal flights from the UK and daily flights from Athens (about 40 minutes).
- Ferries from Piraeus and Rafina take roughly 2.5–5 hours depending on vessel.
Local tips
- Reserve restaurants and beach clubs ahead in summer.
